The benefits of selecting Cast Iron roof outlets

As cast iron is inherently strong it is the ideal choice for load-bearing applications. The crystallised nature of cast Iron means once installed these components resist damage even in exposed areas such as those accessed by heavy vehicles or heavy levels of traffic by vehicles.

It can be used in conjunction with copper and lead clad roofs with less risk of bi-metallic corrosion. In addition the clamps and grates are treated with a sherardising zinc coating process which gives and extra hardwearing, anti-corrosive finish.

The cast Iron range is cast to BS EN 1561 standard

Its designated load rating is up to 12.5 tonnes

Its drainage flow performance is to BS EN 12056-3 standard

Bodies – Medium or Large Sump Compact outlet body

  • Medium Sump – Compact outlet body – Vertical (Spigot & Threaded) & Horizontal (Threaded only) – Connect to 50, 75 & 100mm pipe work – Domical, Circular Flat, Square Flat (stainless steel or ductile iron) grates – with or without height adjustable extension piece – And double flange variable height bodies
  • Large Sump (LT) – Deep outlet sump – 100 & 150mm vertical pipe connection – Threaded to 4″ & 6″ BSP – Connect to Cast Iron, HDPE, PVCu & Stainless Steel systems (Harmer adaptors may be required) – Heavy duty ductile Iron circular and square grates for areas with vehicle access
  • Double Flange (D) – Double flange construction allows fine adjustment for use with insulation thicknesses between 80-100mm – In medium and large sump – with Domical or Flat Circular grate

Connections – Vertical or Horizontal, Threaded or Spigot

  • Vertical Spigot connection – Vertical spigot suitable for direct connection to cast Iron pipework to BS EN 877 & BS 416 – HDPE and PVC O-ring socketed pipe to BS 4514 & BS EN1329-1 with suitable Harmer coupling.
  • Vertical Threaded Connection (T) – Vertical threaded outlets have a female socket with parallel BSP thread – suitable for connection to male BSP threaded pipe – recommended where connection to outlet occurs within thickness of a concrete slab – to create a completely gas-tight seal within slab – connect to cast iron, HDPE & PVCu with appropriate Harmer threaded spigot adaptor & coupling.
  • Horizontal Threaded connection (90T) – Horizontal threaded outlets have a female socket with parallel BSP thread – suitable for connection to male BSP threaded pipe – recommended where connection to outlet occurs within thickness of a concrete slab – to create a completely gas-tight seal within slab- connect to cast iron, HDPE & PVCu with appropriate Harmer threaded spigot adaptor & coupling.

Grates – Circular flat, Square flat, with or without extension piece

  • Domical Grate
  • Circular Flat Grate (/F)
  • Square Flat Grate (/S)
  • Circular Flat Grate – with Height Adjustable Extension Piece (/ECD)
  • Square Flat Grate – Stainless Steel – with Height Adjustable Extension Piece (/ESS)
  • Square Flat Grate – Ductile Iron with Height Adjustable Extension Piece (/ESD)

Low maintenance and easy installation

The domical grates are made from UV-stable polypropylene and are designed to permit the free flow of rainwater while preventing loose chippings or debris entering the outlet, while the side fixing of the clamping ring and domical grate to the outlet body facilitates unobstructed rodding.

Sustainability

Cast iron has a proven track record for longevity and is 100% recyclable at the end of its life. They can be returned to the furnace to make new cast iron products.
