NEW Galvanised Steel Box gutter PLUS Free Fascia & Soffit in June

We’re pleased to be able to add a box profile gutter to the Infinity galvanised steel and colour coated galvanised steel range available to buy online with next day delivery.

in plain galv, black and anthracite grey

The box profile offers a greater flow capacity (3.2L/s with 1x 100mm downpipe and  6.4L/s with 2x100mm downpipes) equivalent to the 150mm half round profile or may just be the right ‘look’ that you are after for your property.

For the UK market, and to make installation as  simple as possible, we’ve had the stopends pre-installed on a 1m length of gutter and developed dry-joint gutter connection unions (similar to our half round system’s). Most other boxes gutter systems would need the stopends ‘seaming’ and the gutter lengths would need to be overlapped and then sealed with messy, unreliable sealant.

Image  2. The four layer coating to keep colours vibrant and protect the steel core

Galvanised steel does not crack or warp like plastic guttering. And although unlike either aluminium or plastic, steel itself is susceptible to rust, the galvanising process (the application of a protective zinc coating) means that the Infinity galvanised steel guttering, colour coated or not, is rust-resistant for up to 15 years – and longer if looked after well throughout that time.

The colour coating will not require repainting. The polyester topcoat is UV and scratch-resistant, so should last 25 years and comes with a manufacturer’s warranty of 15 years.
The uncoated galvanised steel guttering does not require painting, and ‘paint’ will not adhere to it (in order to supply it with a colour coating requires 4 factory-applied layers). Instead the zinc ‘galvanised’ coating creates a tough, self-healing, outer patina that protects the steel core – so no other treatment is required.

Galvanised steel gutters are more sustainable in the long-term than plastic (because steel can be, and in reality commonly is, recycled infinitely).

Aluminium is considered the more sustainable option than steel at the moment, but galvanised steel is more affordable. So aluminium would be the most sustainable choice, but galvanised steel is the ‘affordable’ sustainable choice.
And with even lower-carbon credentials within sight when coke fired furnaces are inevitably replaced by hydrogen/electric fired ones.

Unlike steel, plastic is prone to high thermal expansion; as it expands and contracts in the changing seasons the joints of plastic guttering are more likely to fail, creating leaks. All metals have a considerably lower thermal expansion, so are less likely to leak; added to that, the Infinity galvanised steel system has highly durable and flexible EPDM rubber seals at every joint, that will not leak if installed correctly.

Considering the greatest cost of a rainwater system will be the installation, with the hire of scaffolding or portable towers needed to access the roofline even if you do-it-yourself, the less often you have to replace your guttering, the better.

The key features:

  • Exceptional capacity offering peace of mind for effective rainwater disposal
  • Dry jointed union connectors with no need for messy silicone
  • Join to swaged round downpipe – simply push-fit together
  • Quick, easy to install gutter solution – cut with a hand hacksaw – just like plastic
  • Fully galvanised, and then also available in 2 other colours from stock (so Natural Galv, Black, and Anthracite Grey) but an almost unlimited choice is possible with longer lead times and a possible surcharge depending on the colour you have in mind.
(IF this option is of interest – get in touch and let them know the colour – then they can arrange a bespoke quote for you.) (IF this option is of interest – get in touch and let them know the colour – then they can arrange a bespoke quote for you.)
