We’ve produced installation guidance in printable PDFs and as videos to make it simple for customers to follow. The latest addition to these guides is for the Rise & fall bracket – essential when your property doesn’t have a fascia board to attach the gutter to and rafter brackets are impractical.

Take our popular ‘Infinity’ rainwater system guttering, available in galvanised steel (and colour coated glav steel), natural zinc, copper and stainless steel. It’s deliberately designed with the inside edge sitting slightly higher than the outside edge, so rather than having guttering that’s level front to back, there is a very slight tilt away from the wall so that if the gutter should ever overflow in the event of an extreme downpour, the building is still protected.
These instructions should help with any rainwater system installation using these brackets, but the figures given for the recommended distance between brackets and the images used are specific to the Infinity systems.

- Mark on the building’s facade the location of the first drive-in ‘spike’ nearest the downpipe, using the bracket to gauge the appropriate distance below the roof edge
- Next mark on the spike the depth it needs to go into the building for the bracket (and therefore the gutter) to sit directly under the roof/drip edge.
- Make a hole in the mortar between stones or bricks with a chisel, an old spike, or drill into the brickwork/masonry, to accommodate the spike.
- Do the same for all the other spikes with 915mm centres along the length of the run
creating a ‘fall’ of 1:600 ro 1:350 (max) from the highest bracket at the far end to the lowest one, nearest the outlet and the downpipe
(N.B. the Infinity range can also be installed without a ‘fall’).
915mm centres = approx. 3 per 3mtre length - Fill holes with cement or epoxy resin to secure all the spikes. A wooden wedge can help keep them in place, against the top of the hole, until the cement, mortar or resin sets.
- Attach threaded brackets to the spikes, tighten the nuts to set the bracket heights following the string guide (now in the centre of the brackets) or spirit level.
- Insert the gutter lengths, and outlet into the brackets.
(N.B ensure there are brackets either side of each outlet and corner angle, especially if you are not including the bead connectors which offer additional support at the joins)
Additional:
This bracket has a drive-in stake that goes into the mortar. Fix directly into the brickwork/masonry by drilling out an opening in the mortar, inserting a hardwood or plastic spacer, then hammering the spike into the opening.
Care should be taken to ensure that the vertical threaded rods are all in line to achieve the correct line of gutter. Bracket centres should not exceed 915mm, with additional brackets either side of each outlet and corner angle.
To help line up the brackets a consistent distance from the facade you can always make a template (of wood?) and drive them in till the threaded rod touches the wood.
A few hints from those who have installed them before:
“When you are drilling the holes/slots use a drill bit slightly larger than the thickness then wobble it sideways to make a slot.”
“I first drilled a series of holes and then completed the channel with the rake bit.”
“Measure very accurately to get the spacing in the right place for the brackets.”
