Keen to be Green

Working towards a sustainable future

Where We Source Our Products

Rainclear Systems actively pursues sustainability in the range of products and systems that we offer.

We purchase our goods from two of the leading manufacturers of aluminium goods in the UK who are also constantly working to provide a sustainable product through improvements to manufacturing processes and recycling techniques.

The Raw Material

Virtually none of the aluminium goods available on the UK market today are manufactured from raw mined material ( Bauxite Ore ) this is relevant as the mining and processing of this ore has a hugely detrimental affect on the environment, most goods are now manufactured from recycled materials, the recycling of aluminium uses approximately 5% of the energy that it requires to manufacture from raw Bauxite Ore and the material suffers no loss of properties during the recycling process making it 100% recyclable.

The Facts

  • 79% of recovered aluminium in the EU is recycled
  • Aluminium can be recycled indefinitely
  • Green energy sources such as Hydro electric and geo thermal power, are used in over 60% of the processing requirements
  • Aluminium rainwater systems have the lowest whole life cost when compared to alternative materials

A Long Lasting Solution

Due to the fact that aluminium will not rust it is an ideal choice for any project that requires a long lasting environmentally efficient product. Available in a wide range of colours the polyester powder coating, if properly maintained, can last up to 50 years

Peace of Mind

We are sure that you will agree that installing an aluminium system on your project is not only a cost effective option but also that you have a sustainable, long lasting rainwater system provided by manufacturers and distributors who are leading the marketplace in reducing the effects on the environment caused by the manufacturing process.

Are cast iron systems ‘eco’ friendly?

Although cast iron is one of the oldest guttering materials it is seeing something of a rebirth of fortunes in the modern world with regards environmental impact and sustainability.

This news is not new, writer and author John Ruskin wrote at the end of the 19th Century of cast iron,

"It breathes air, burns itself up in oxygen and so gives up its own life so that we may live ours."

This is based on the fact that Cast Iron does not rust in the traditional sense, it oxidises very slowly. This process gives off iron ashes which are carbon based and good for the environment. They promote green growth on plants and increase planktonic life in the oceans, thus combating global warming. Recent studies have shown that adding iron dust to the oceans could have a dramatic positive effect on their health, increasing the oxygen output of our seas and oceans and reducing greenhouse gasses.

On a practical note, this slow oxidisation makes iron very long lasting.

Cast Iron is also totally recyclable and recycled, and further to this it can be recycled indefinitely with no decline in properties.
